SMK Kunak Jaya scores 95.5pc passes

KUNAK : SMK Kunak Jaya recorded a 95.5 passing rate in the 2009 SPM examination compared to 90.5 per cent in 2008.
Its Principal, Nor Aslam Mano Abdullah, said three of the school's students scored 6As and six obtained 5As.

The three with 6As were Muhammad Nazib Datu Kassim (2A+,1A,3A-), Mohd Sufikar Meching (3A,3A-) and Shahril Bolong (6A-).
Six subjects - Physics, Science and Technology in English, Agriculture Science, Visual Art Education, Geography and Communication and Information Technology - recorded 100 per cent passes.

Other subjects that showed an increase in the passing percentage were Science (94.5pc), History (62pc), Islamic Education (88pc), English (58.6pc), Bahasa Malaysia (95.5pc) and Moral Education (75pc).

For Commerce, which was introduced for the first time in the school with 32 students sitting for the subject, the passing rate was 71.8 per cent.

Nor Aslam said as a rural school, there are many challenges faced by students and teachers.
"The school building suffered damage in a jolt from earthquake early last year and has not been used since. We have to use the hall and school canteen to conduct lessons.

"However, the building is undergoing maintenance, monitored by the Public Works Department, and will be ready for use in three months", he said.

Muhammad Nazib, who obtained 6As, thanked his parents and teachers for their support.
"Without their support, I would not have gotten such result. It's a dream came true. I believe in 'ibubapa didahulukan, pelajaran diutamakan' (parents first, education now) as it has motivated me to strive for success", he told Daily Express reporter, here recently.

Syukur alhamdulillah dan ribuan tahniah diucapkan kepada semua yang telah memperoleh keputusan cemerlang dalam peperiksaan tersebut. Diharapkan SMK Kunak Jaya sentiasa maju dan melahirkan insan yang berjaya.
